We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Principal Research Technician.
The NYU Cytometry and Cell Sorting Laboratory (CCSL) is a fee-for-service laboratory operated by NYU Langone Health (NYULH) as a state-of-the-art shared resource for biomedical researchers. CCSL staff members develop and provide their knowledge and expertise to the research community at NYU in a broad variety of cytometry research and applications. They work closely with investigators to define optimal experimental design, perform cytometric experiments as a service, develop and maintain standards for all service procedures and troubleshooting, and provide guidance and service in data management and analysis.
The successful applicant will be trained to become responsible for performing flow cytometric assays in collaboration with NYULH investigators to facilitate their basic science research experimentation, under supervision of the Associate Director. The successful applicant should have a basic familiarity with microscopy, immunofluorescence-based assays, and cell culture.
The Principal Research Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of complex laboratory tasks and standardized procedures to provide high quality flow cytometric support for the research community.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Will be responsible for daily setup, quality control, maintenance, and operation of cell sorters and analytical cytometers.
2. Interacts with investigators for scheduling, experimental troubleshooting, data interpretation and one-on-one training related to their flow cytometric experiments.
3. Carries out flow cytometric experiments according to established protocols.
4. Reviews results with senior research personnel in the laboratory.
5. Makes buffers and solutions as needed.
6. Orders supplies based on established guidelines and protocols.
7. Executes routine assays and basic experiments based on laboratory protocol.
8. Records results of experiments in laboratory notebooks.
9. Familiarity with microscopy, immunofluorescence-based assays, and cell culture
10. Will perform one-on-one training on instrumentation and software.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with three-four year of experience. At least one year of experience providing flow cytometric services required. Effective oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and expertise with analytical flow cytometry is strongly preferred. In addition to the responsibilities and duties of Principal Research Technician listed above, the candidate is expected to perform all general and advanced procedures within the lab with minimal supervision. S/he will assist in the planning of experiments as well as in the interpretation of the results. The Principal Research Technician is expected to train and provide supervision to junior level lab personnel in established laboratory policies, methods, and procedures. He/she is also expected to use specific software in the analysis and interpretation of the results of experiments.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $46,900.00 - $72,800.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
