Simple counts with flow: chicken rbc's

In a manner analogous to spiking the sample with a known concentration of
microspheres according to the recipe posted by Chris Groves, you could spike
the sample with a known concentration of chicken erythrocytes. This concept
was published by MR Loken and VL Sheckler (Transfusion 33:256-61, 1993) as
part of a method for detecting low concentrations of WBC in platelet products.

A commercial alternative is to use Coulter's FlowCount microspheres
(concentration/mcl is already measured. They're expensive, though.
