The Curriculum in Toxicology, University of North Carolina has an opening for a Postdoctoral
Research Fellowship. The research project involves the study of the expression of Th1 and Th2
responses and their role in immunotoxicity, particularly with respect to detecting and
distinguishing potential respiratory from contact sensitizers. The immediate goal is to identify cell
surface and intracellular molecules by flow cytometry or molecular biology techniques following
exposure to known sensitizers. Once protocols have been developed and tested, the postdoctoral
fellow will travel to collaborating laboratories at DuPont and Dow Chemical to transfer the
technology. The position requires a Ph.D. in Immunology, Biological Sciences or Toxicology, with
experience in flow cytometry and molecular biology required. This project is part of a collaborative
agreement between the University of North Carolina and the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency, which is collaborating with E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company and Dow Chemical
