Click on the small image to see a "monocytoid" cytotoxic T cell often seen in the latter stage of HIV infections.The lineage of this type of cell was confirmed by immunocytochemistry. The "empty" appearance of the cytoplasm is typical of the morphological changes commonly seen in HIV.
