Autofluorescence: alveolar macs

Mary Jo Baarsch asks about reducing the autofluorescence
of alveolar macrophages. If it is at all possible to
get a Helium-Neon laser (633nm) into your configuration
this will provide one of the best ways to reduce the
problem of autofluorescence. For specifics, look at
"Comparison of HeNe and Dye Lasers for the Excitation
of Allophycocyanin" M.R. Loken, et al. Cytometry 8:96-100,
1987. In this reference alveolar macs were used to demonstrate
this specific problem.
