Another comment on the epics C lasers....

Has anyone ever taken one of these coherent lasers that were
software controlled from the epics C and achieved independent control
over the power supply? I understand there is some hardware that
needs to be added to power supply as well as appropriate remote
switches (eg "on" and "off"). Any experience with this conversion
(or un- needed hardware) would be appreciated.

We have also done this on a coherent 90-2 from an original Epics C.
It works fine - we are currently using the laser in an entirely
unrelated application to flow cytometry. The proceedure is not
trivial and involves playing around in a potentially very dangerous
environment -ie the laser power supply. You need a new coverplate, a
small controller which actually sits on the front of the power supply
and blind faith when you switch it on!
