(TATIANA's Information and Communication System) is a new Windows application that is currently being developed at TATIANA . Its creator is Bernd Reske, a COMETT exchange student from the Polytechnic of Würzburg (Germany), who will complete his 9 month placement at TATIANA in June. This new system will replace the original database management system as this is no longer appropriate to the needs of TATIANA. The database has been completely redesigned and newly created with a MS Access 1.1 format. The scope of the database has been greatly extended to store data about, amongst others, courses, staff and student exchanges, visits, detection of training needs and news and support of all partner organisations. Running on our local PC network under the MS WINDOWS for Workgroups, TIX can be accessed from any computer in our current network (4). It is free of charge. We have recently purchased a fax modem machine, to use in conjunction with TIX, with an improved Internet connection any user can send E-Mail from his own computer (at present we have only one computer with this capacity). In the future we hope to have an interface between TIX and our accounting programme: CONTAPLUS and are considering including dB Tables on the Internet for world-wide accessibility. All these changes shall enhance TATIANA's internal organisation and therefore shall offer an improved service to all. This new system will substitute the old DBASE III DOS application.
